K went to work this morning, and Sienna to school. Our home is quiet like never before. I’m tired, yet my mind drifts to felt ornaments and festive knits, a thousand new dishes for our January menu at Bryggargatan and a never-ending list of things I want to bake with Sienna this advent.

Outside, it keeps snowing. Sienna asked yesterday how snowflakes are born. I told her they start in the clouds, from the smallest particle, each one forming its own pattern. They’re all unique, I said; and she answered, ”like people”.

An upside down sort of week. Saffron krabbelurer for breakfast. A dance recital, a blurry ice rink, and with an operation on the 26th I felt I needed to finish everything at once: Christmas market prep at the restaurant, fudge and marmalades, truffle honey and polka, decorating the terrace with Jennilla and Pon, buying Christmas trees, painting signs late into the evening.

And then today. Snow outside our windows, K working at the kitchen table. Pepparkaksbak after school. And an early bedtime for me.
